Marsh Mill Interiors In The Press

A Celebration Of Success

We’re proud of the work we do with all of our clients and we absolutely love it when they receive the recognition they deserve.

That’s why we’re telling you about this feature in Blog Preston which talks about Marsh Mill Interiors ‘lockdown success’.

Leona Marsh
Marsh Mill Interiors launched in 2017 with a range of stylish industrial-inspired tables made with reclaimed wood. An immediate success, they quickly built up a successful business supplying a host of upscale UK-wide restaurants. Then in March 2020, the pandemic struck.

“The commercial side of things completely dried up. In the first three months of lockdown I sold five tables. I thought ‘oh dear’ so I enlisted a digital marketing company called Bright Red to re-evaluate my sales strategy and redesign my website from the ground up.”

Through necessity, and with our help Marsh Mill Interiors changed their offering overnight to cater almost solely to the domestic market. We designed and built Marsh Mill a shiny new website and put together a marketing plan to really make the most of the gorgeous products.

Blog Preston says “The appeal of tables like this is obvious; I have three kids who love using pens away from paper; this makes robust items a much more pragmatic choice for busy households.”

If the appeal of the tables was obvious, the public’s response was even more dramatic. With many people furloughed and people not going out to restaurants or away on holiday they were looking to make the most of their indoor and outdoor spaces. And a hand-made table from Marsh Mill was the perfect way to do this. With the help of the new website and a re-energised marketing plan business went from strength to strength.

“Things started to pick up around June, by August I had to employ extra staff and by November I had to move into this workshop.”

With all of the extra sales, Leona and her ever-expanding team moved into a new and much bigger workshop. The volume of orders and the number of people working for the company meant that they had outgrown their smaller workshop.

Marsh Mill Interiors – A Sustainable Business

Marsh Mill Interior’s is passionate about sustainability and supporting the local economy. The wood is sourced sustainably from local scaffolding firms, the supplier of powdered coatings are Preston-based, as are we at Bright RED and the tables allow businesses to meet carbon and environmental targets.

Marsh Mill prides itself on using reclaimed wood which is salvaged and then recycled coupled with steel legs.  The wood could have come from a range of places such as a scaffolding project, dismantled barn or factory.

The team then apply a top-secret 10-step treatment process to add character and longevity to the wood and makes sure that you will be able to enjoy your furniture for years to come. Marsh Mill Interiors is the single largest woodshop solely dedicated to this style of furniture in the country.

Leona says: “People think working with reclaimed wood is much easier; it’s not. In order to change it from something destined for landfill, I use my special 10-step process on scaffolding boards from building sites to draw out the grain, the patina, the nicks and dints to make it look nice and add character.”

Marsh Mill Interiors currently employs eight members of staff.

Leona says: “One of the things I’ve been most proud of is how my business was able to employ people who’d previously lost their jobs in other industries, through no fault of their own, just not able to remain open through the pandemic. This includes an 18 and a 19-year-old, who might otherwise have struggled to find work or job experience in the current climate.”

A Bright Future

We are so proud of the part we have played in Marsh Mill Interiors success and are delighted to be a part of their future. We are continuing to work alongside them to build on their success and launch new and exciting products and grow their business.

Leona says ” I approached BrightRED to help me redesign and develop a new and improved website. I was so glad that I did because I’m thrilled with the way it has turned out. The flexibility the new site offers to me and my business has exceeded what I previously thought was possible.”
